What a year, right? A lot of us stated in January 2020 that 2020 was going to be the best year ever! Little did we know that a global pandemic was on its way and would test us in ways we couldn’t even imagine.
We were forced to stay inside, deal with loss, rethink our entire lives, support each other, and bring forth a whole bunch of love.

Let me be honest. It’s been tough. I am not going to sit here and write that 2020 was amazing. I am truly happy for those that had an amazing year despite everything. That wasn’t the case for my family and I.
We struggled. My business struggled. My mental health slipped. My girls’ mental health slipped.
I cried a lot. We cried a lot. I felt anger, depression, sadness, helplessness, and frustration.
I wanted to run but there was nowhere to run to. I had to sit with myself and that was uncomfortable.
You see. For the last 4 years, I have been running.
Running away from my failed marriage. Running away from challenges. Running away
I allowed myself to truly feel everything. I didn’t judge myself and I didn’t judge my IC mommas who were dealing with some of the same emotions.
Recently, I asked my Inner Circle mommas to think about all the blessings that came out of 2020 and to share them with our Inner Circle family.
Even in our darkest moments, we can look deep for the blessings in it all. I had to look really deep but here are some of the blessings that happened for my family and I in 2020:
I launch the Single Moms DO Inner Circle membership site.
I created and launched the Single Moms DO Travel Academy.
I rebranded from Trippin’ Momma to Amoya Shante across all platforms.
I went to countless fancy dinner parties with friends.
I quit Facebook for good and gave up my two Facebook groups of over 10,000 members.
I read at least 30 books but probably more. (I should count them. lol)
I hired a full-time nanny.
I hired a personal trainer for the first time.
I hired a personal chef for the first time.
I set boundaries and stuck to them.
I took a trip to Bacalar with my family in the middle of a launch.
We went to Disney World for 4 days despite being on the tightest budget ever.
We went to Boston for 4 days. ( I am still manifesting this one.)
We spent a month in Austin, TX in our own Airbnb with our own rental car for the first time ever! Usually, we have to have help from amazing family and friends. (I am only a week into our one month stay in Austin as I write this. Just a little manifesting happening.)
I received my very first YouTube check plus grew the channel to almost 8000 subscribers.
I hired the amazing Jason and Caroline Zook as my business coaches because they are the absolute best and they are anti Facebook. lol
I started writing my very first book, Single Moms DO Travel, with some of the Inner Circle mommas. Stay tuned!
I got to get to know and spend quality time with the most amazing beautiful soul before she left this earth tragically.
I had endless laughter with friends in 2020.
I held space for my girls when they were navigating super tough times.
I loved myself.
It is your turn
What blessings happened during 2020 for you? Take some time to write them down. Comment below with them or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with them.
I realize that I am writing this and 2020 is not over. We still have a few weeks and so much more we can DO.
What can you do starting today to change your life for the better? You don’t have to wait until January to start new goals. You can start today.
You can do a social media detox.
You can watch less TV and read more high vibe books.
You can get to bed earlier.
You can drink more water.
You could focus on gratitude more.
You could connect with more uplifting and positive people.
You could let go of bad relationships.
You could drink more delicious coffee. Oh wait… that one is for me.
You could start that online business you have been talking about starting for years.
On a more serious note, it doesn’t have to be a BIG step.
Just take a step forward and then another and then another. Imagine where you could be 4 years from now if you started working towards your dreams today.
What if you dropped the excuses and pushed past the fears? What if you took full ownership of your life?
You are the common denominator of your own life, right? So instead of looking at this as a bad thing look at as a positive. You are in control. You are the creator of your life. You are powerful! Believe it.
That means the possibilities are endless! Single Moms DO it all!
On days that are tough go back to this and remember that despite any setbacks you can always move forward again.
You can always pick yourself back up.
You can always change the narrative and rewrite the story.
A Thank You Note for 20202
Thank you for teaching me what true friendship is. Thank you for truly pushing me to look within instead of running from my own thoughts. Thank you for bringing my family and I closer together.
Thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone and making me get creative in all area of my life. You weren’t easy on me but that is precisely what I needed.
Thank you for showing me just how strong I truly am and how strong the world is. We are better together and we needed you to help us remember that. Thank you 2020.
It is your turn.
Write a thank you note to 2020. You might have to dig deep but do it anyways. It is powerful!
